"Autophile412 - what's the world got in store?" (autophile412)

So I finally had some time to work on the RX7 this past weekend and I got it to start and run. After letting it run in the driveway for a bit it lingered at about 6,000 rpm so I shut it down to tinker. I then ran out of time to do said tinkering and when I tried to fire it back up again she just wouldn’t.
Anyone with Winkel experience have any advice? I still need to put new brakes and rotors on all four corners and flush the coolant system and put a new steering wheel in. She could also use a paint job but I’ll drive her the way she is if I can get her running right.

I’ve got an ‘85 S I daily this time of year. It’s hard to say with the EFI on the -SE, they’re kind of finnicky. Have you done a compression test? When it wouldn’t restart, was it hot or cold?

it was hot still from running for a few minutes. I didn’t let it overheat though. compression test is next on the list.

Compression test should be helpful. As the rotary ages it will become harder and harder to start when hot. Have you tried to start it since then (as in cold-start)?
That said, whatever made it stick at 6 grand may also have something to do with it not starting. I’ll defer you to the forums for -SE diagnostics since I am not familiar with their EFI computer at all.
Hopefully you get it sorted out, these cars really are a blast to drive.
